The wait is nearly over for the 27th edition of the European Championships. And one event which is eagerly anticipated due to its incredible competitiveness, is the Men’s Singles. Who will be taking the gold this year?

Number 8 seed Lucas Corvee of France is one of those who will play a key role in determining who will be standing on top of the podium. Corvee comes to Spain with a semi-final from the Swiss Open and a quarter-final from the Orleans Masters under his belt. It is therefore understandable that there is a lot of positivity from the Corvee camp when he says

-My form is very good, we had a very good preparation together with my coaches, physical trainers and training partners. I’m looking forward since many months to start playing in this tournament.

Last tournament with Peter Gade
Over the past few years, it has to be noted that France as come along leaps and bounds on the badminton stage. This is down to a great team effort and some great new talents emerging, but a big influence has been the national coach appointment of Danish legend, Peter Gade. And for Corvee, the European Championships 2018 marks a significant moment in his career, as he explains

-It is the last tournament with Peter Gade as a coach on my chair, so I will definitely give all I have to perform here and try to finish on a very good note for our collaboration. My physical shape is very good, which is very important for my game and my confidence.  Ambitions are high, but my way is first to put all my focus on the first match and my preparation, and then I will move forward from it.

It is certainly building up to be a great tournament. Lucas Corvee, after a bye in Round 1, will play either Swiss Christian Kirchmayr or Moldovan Cristian Savin in the 2nd Round on Wednesday. Find the draw for #EC18 here.
