A close loss now, eyes up for next months

Brice Leverdez (France) was very close in causing stunt against the number three of the world: Srikanth Kidambi (India). With one match point in his own hands, the match eventually slipped away for him with 20-22 in the third set…

Leverdez had a very solid start and rushed the first game all over Kidambi with 21-7.
- Me and my coach made a plan that the speed of the game should be high and that worked out very well, Leverdez told Badminton Europe after his match.

In the second game Leverdez lost some focus, while Kidambi was anticipating better on the game play of Leverdez.
- I got too much behind in the second game and to make it up, Leverdez continued.

It all had to get on to the third game, which was one step at  a time for both players. Eventually Leverdez had the first match point.

- In the end it came all down to mental skills. I was too focused on winning but caused me making to much easy mistakes

Step up goals

There is not much time to be sad as Leverdez has his eyes on the rest of the year. He is overall satisfied with game and want to improve his results. Next tournament are the 2018 European Championships in Huelva.

-I would love to get a medal during the European Championships. I always get to the quarter finals so now it is time for a medal, Leverdez commented.

His goals are also straight for the other tournaments. He will play the Thomas Cup with his team mates and then play other Super Series tournaments.

- I finally want to reach quarter finals in those tournaments. After reaching second rounds all the time it is time for the next step .
