3-0 – Denmark ready for the semi-finals

The defending European Women’s Team Champion clinched a spot in the semi-finals winning 3-0 against England.


In the first match of the World number 75, Chloe Birch got a great start winning the first game against Mia Blichfeldt, who is currently ranked 31 in the World. Birch took the first game 21-18. Blichfeldt found her game during a close second game winning it 21-19, and the opening tie on the quarter-finals day became a real thriller.

Points were changing all the way the in the decider, but at the end the Danish favourite pulled if off on secured Denmark the first point of the match winning the decider 21-17.

- I had the nerves to play in the end. I found the right way to play in the third game, and I kept telling myself, that I had to keep fighting. Chloe is a real fighter, Mia Blichfeldt says.

2-0 after women’s doubles
Second match of the tie was the first women’s doubles. Christinna Pedersen joined the Danish team after her injury, and with her back on court the Danes did not struggle against Sarah Walker and Jessica Pugh.

The Danes won the first game 21-13 and gave Denmark a 2-0 lead winning the second game.

Injury ends the tie
In the second women’s singles the match didn’t get started before it was over.

After seven points played Grace King got a knee injury and had to withdraw. It honestly didn’t look good.

Denmark is then ready for the semi-finals with a 3-0 win. They will face either Russia or Bulgaria.
