“Finally we are back in top 10 and it feels great”, this is how India Open 2018 runner-ups Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (Denmark) feel after occupying position no. 10 on men’s doubles world ranking list.
The next challenge for the Danes is European team Championships in Kazan. After that they will face a tough task of defending their title in German Open 2018, Kim says to Badminton Europe adding:
- One of our main targets in 2018 is All England. Last year we were very consistent being in the last 16 pairs in every Superseries tournament but with only one quarterfinal. Our goal is to get some peaks during 2018, where we will play more semi-finals and finals in the World Tour Tournaments.
- We would like to keep climbing the ranks into top 8 to secure a seeding in the biggest tournaments. It’s a great advantage. We are motivated and ready to work hard and hopefully the results will come, Kim tells Badminton Europe.

Corrales and Jaquet climbing up
Beatriz Corrales (Spain) got 5040 points after reaching into quarterfinals in India Open 2018. In a three-set match she lost to Pusarla V. Sindhu and this week she has climbed 3 spots up to occupy position no. 33.
Another women’s singles player having a rise this week is 2017 European bronze medallist Sabrina Jaquet (Switzerland) who is making a comeback after an injury.
Men’s singles for this week
Rajiv Ouseph (England) climbed one spot up to occupy position no. 22 on men’s singles world ranking list.
Rasmus Gemke (Denmark) moved two spots up occupying position no. 35.
Mark Caljouw (Netherlands) and Pablo Abian (Spain) are following him on positions no. 36 and 37 respectively.
