Two Danish doubles stormed into the final of the India Open (350.000 Dollars) tournament on Saturday.

Mixed pair Mathias Christiansen and Christinna Pedersen defeated eighth seeded Indian pair Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Reddy Sikki 21-16, 21-19 and advanced to the finals. The Danes, who are fifth seeded in New Delhi, reached the finals of the China Open and Hong Kong Open after starting as a pair at the Denmark Open last year.

Their compatriots Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, current Yonex German Open champions, have roared into their first Super 500 tournament’s final after an impressive victory over Han Chengkai/Zhou Haodong. The Danes crushed Chinese hopes with a 21-19, 21-14 defeat to book a title showdown on Sunday with tournament’s favourites and in-form Indonesians Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo.

Rytter Juhl/Pedersen beaten in the semi-finals

Olympic silver medallists and top seeds Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark were stunned by third seeds Indonesian pair of Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu 21-14 19 -21 21-18.

„Our Asian Tour has come to an end and it has for sure been a success overall. Of course we really wanted to be a part for tomorrow’s finals, but Polii and Rahayu were too solid today and credit to them for playing a good match. We will travel home with our heads high and remember that 13 days ago we were on the top of the podium in Malaysia. Thank for all for the support we have felt in Malaysia, Indonesia and India. It has been amazing and we already look forward to coming back to all three countries", Pedersen and Rytter Juhl wrote on their official Facebook page.

In men's singles semi-finals, China's Shi Yuqi staved off stiff competition from Iskandar Zulkarnain to enter the finals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament. The fourth-seeded Yuqi set up an exciting title clash with Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen, who beat Qiao Bin of China 23-21, 21-16.

World number one Viktor Axelsen pulled out on the eve of the US$350.000 tournament as he suffered an injury at the Indonesia Masters in the previous month.
