In exactly two weeks, Badminton Europe and the National Badminton Federation of Russia will welcome 53 teams in Kazan, Russia, for the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships (EMWTC18).

The tournament will function as the European qualification for the TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2018, which will be organized in Bangkok, Thailand. The best four men’s and women’s teams of Europe will qualify and compete with the best teams in the world from 20-27 May 2018.

- We are excited to welcome the best European nations back to Kazan for the 2018 edition. We have so many great experiences from this venue and we believe that we have quite some entertainment in store for the badminton fans, says BEC Senior Manager Jimmy Andersen.

Tickets for the event is available for purchase via the organizers website. (Click here to buy your tickets now!) Admission to the morning sessions on 13-16 February is free according to the competition schedule. Read more about the ticket sale in the article below.

U15 championships starts 16 February
The 2018 European U15 Championships will take place alongside the EMWTC18 in Kazan, similar to the organization of the events back in 2016. And there is a special reason for the co-organization, according to Jimmy Andersen:

- Of course, there is the practical aspect in the venue already being build, so why not take advantage of that and make use of the many courts throughout the whole week? But giving the youngsters an opportunity to play alongside the stars, and in many cases their idols, is really satisfying to see. It gives the U15-event something extra, and you can really see that they are proud of being part.

- In 2016, we saw an epic match including Russia’s Georgi Karpov, our now reigning European U17 Champion, where he won his quarter final 30-29 in the third game against a Danish opponent. Many of the stars had moved towards this court, and was cheering for the players, just as much as the home crowd did. I am sure that by giving the U15-players the experience of playing in such a top-class setup, makes them think “I want to do this again, so I will strive to become a top class badminton player and play in all the big arenas around the world”.

156 players from 27 European countries will travel to Kazan for the 3rd European U15 Championships in the history of Badminton Europe. The finals will be played at the same venue as the EMWTC18 on 18 February. Live stream from all matches from both tournaments will be online on Badminton Europe’s website and social media.
