There are no European players left in the Thailand Masters 2018. The two final remaining mixed doubles pairs lost in the quarter finals.

Audrey Fontaine and Ronan Labar (France) could not full fill their seeding and lost to home soil pair Nipitphon Phuangphuapet/ Jongkolphan Kititharakul.

Despite their loss, Audrey Fontaine is not completely disappointed about their game.
‘We managed to play our level, but it was difficult to finish the points’ she told Badminton Europe after their match.

‘We followed our plan and the tactics. We kept on fighting, even if when the shots did not go as supposed’ Fontaine continued.

‘Hard to come back’

The course of the match just fell in the wrong direction for Fontaine and Labar. In the first game the match was tied up until 15. Then the Thai pair took an advantage and won the first game.

‘After 15 all we made some mistakes we gave them some easy points which made the difference at the end’ Fontaine stated.

The second game was quite similar to the first until 7 all. Then again the Thai pair took a lead of 5 points. ‘It was hard to come back’ Fontaine mentioned.

‘Our shots were not precise and efficient enough. The match just did not go in our way’ Fontaine continued.
