85 players from 18 countries will participate in the 2012 Iceland International which will be played from November 9th to November 11th in Reykjavík, Iceland. The tournament is an International Series event of the Badminton Europe Circuit and offers a total prize money of $ 5.000.

Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei is the top seed in the men's singles event.  He won the Grand Prix tournament Yonex Canada Open in July and last week's Bitburger Open. Furthermore the Asian was a runner-up in the Grand Prix Gold tournament Yonex Chinese Taipei Open in October. Tien Chen Chou is ranked number 39 in the BWF World ranking. 

Number two seed is Andrew Smith from England. He is currently ranked number 77 on the BWF World rankings. Smith recently showed a good form by winning the International Series tournament 2012 FZ Forza Slovenia International in May and was a runner-up at the International Series tournament 2012 Li-Ning Victorian International in June.

The top seed in the women's singles is Akvile Stapusaityte of Lithuania. She is ranked number 91 on the BWF World rankings. Stapusaityte also took part at the Olympics in London in August. Number two seed in the women's singles is Grace Gabriel from Nigeria, who is ranked number 104 on the current BWF world rankings.

So Hee Lee and Seung Chan Shin from Korea are the top seeds in women's doubles category. They are ranked number 64 on the BWF World rankings. Irina Hlebko and Ksenia Polikarpova of Russia who are ranked number 123 on the BWF World ranking, grabbed the number two seeding spot.

Icelandic pairs are top seeded in men's doubles and women's doubles.   Magnus Ingi Helgason and Helgi Johannesson and Atli Johannesson and Snjolaug Johannsdottir.

The nations entered in Reykjavik are Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Korea, Lithuania, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Chinese Taipei and Wales.
