Tomas Toledano has secured a European U17 championships medal for Spain.
The Spaniard is seeded third in the men’s singles event and faced Iliyan Stoynov from Bulgaria in the quarter-final on Tuesday morning.
- I feel very good right now. The European championships is an incredible tournament and I am very happy that I could win this quarter-final, Toledano said to Badminton Europe after his match.
Toledano beat Finnish Victor Lindahl in two sets the day before but had to take the quarter-final into three.
Everything is possible
Stoynov fought back in the second set after losing 21-10 to the Spaniard; he took the second set 21-10.
Toledano then pulled himself together in the third set which made the rallies longer and more exhausting. The third set ends 21-13 to the Spaniard and he will face Christo Popov’s defeater, Georgii Karpov from Russia, in the semi-final.
- I am really happy because I did not believe that I could play in the semi-final. But everything is possible and maybe I will win it and reach the final.
