Big party in the Bulgarian capital as the badminton federation celebrates 50th anniversary.

Saturday night around 100 people were gathered to celebrate the Bulgarian Badminton Federation, and it was quite a party. Big awards were given to among others former players, and founder of the federation, Prof. Dr. Puzant Kassabian was pleased to see, that the federation in which he has been part of since the founding is growing off and on court.
- It is amazing. I am very very happy, Kassabian says.

Women’s team is the biggest achievement

The international results is also getting better and better for Bulgarian players. Especially one result makes Prof. Dr. Puzant Kassabian happy.

- The biggest success in the 50 years of Bulgarian badminton is our women team, who won silver medals in Kazan in 2016. The team took the bronze medals in 2014, and when you are winning medals two times in a row it means, that you have a good team, Kassabian says.

- I am very proud. That is the biggest achievement for Bulgarian badminton so far.

- Badminton in Bulgaria will have a bright future
Badminton Europe was also invited, and General Secretary Brian Agerbak is very happy to be part of the celebration.

- First of all, a huge congratulation to the Bulgarian Badminton Federation. It is always a pleasure to be able to celebrate these milestones with a member association as a 50th anniversary.

- It is always great to be in Bulgaria and meet dear friends. It is a particular pleasure to meet Puzant Kassabian who has been the overshadowing personality and key to the development of badminton in Bulgaria and in many neighbouring countries.

- Badminton is growing in Bulgaria with some excellent results over the years achieved by world class players and to my satisfaction we continue to see emerging talents coming out of the Bulgarian system.

Badminton Europe's Board of Directors and Commission Members were greeted by the Bulgarian Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Krasen Kralev.
