Denmark’s men’s doubles stars Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen - the European Champions of 2017 - have secured a place in another Superseries final by beating unseeded Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi of Japan in today’s Victor Korea Open (600.000 US Dollars) semi-finals.

Boe/Mogensen battled past Hoki/Kobayashi in three games 17-21, 21-16, 21-17 and are on the brink of a 15th Superseries title.

“It was some kind of robbery… we didn’t play our best,” said Carsten Mogensen to Badminton World Federation's website bwfbadminton.com. “We have a lot to prove for tomorrow. The Japanese played well today but we have a lot more experience and that’s why we won today. Another funny final… we’ll see what the Indonesians have got for tomorrow.”The Danes hold a 3-1 advantage over the Indonesians.

5th Korea Open final for Boe/Mogensen

Boe/Mogensen take on the number two seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia on Sunday in their career’s fifth Korea Open final. In 2009 and 2014 the Danes won the title of the Superseries event in Seoul.

Boe said: “We just try to stay on our game. Sometimes you win these close matches, sometimes you lose. Today it didn’t work as we hoped for in the beginning. But we play with our hearts, and sometimes it gives us a second chance on court as it did today. When you keep fighting, even if you’re not playing your best, you steal these matches, and that’s what happened today. We’re delighted to be in another Korea Open final.”

The Danish pair has almost been perfect during their run in Seoul. Until today’s semi-finals, Boe and Mogensen did not drop a single game on their way to the final.
