Russia was announced as hosts for the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships (#EMWTC18) and European U15 Championships (#EU15C18), at Badminton Europe’s (BEC) Members’ Forum.

It was with great excitement that BEC could reveal the hosts for both #EMWTC18 and #EU15C18 during the Members’ Forum in Prague, Friday 31 March, where all our Member Associations were gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of BEC at the annual BEC Congress.

During his "Events" presentation to the members, Jimmy Andersen, BEC Senior Manager, surprised everyone with the announcements:

“The National Badminton Federation of Russia submitted a good bid, which is very similar to what we saw in 2016. Back then we experienced a great event with big participation both in the team events and the U15 tournament. So, we are happy to announce that in February of 2018 we are going back to Kazan to play the European Men’s & Women’s Championships and as well as the European U15 Championships.” Jimmy Andersen said, “Why change something that works?”.

In cooperation with the National Badminton Federation of Russia, Kazan will be the hosting city of both events which will be organized in the same week of February in 2018.

First, the European Men’s & Women’s Championships will begin from 13-18 February, and European U15 Championships will commence later, from 16-18 February.

The team event will count as qualification for the Thomas & Uber Cup, hosted in Thailand in May of 2018.
