This year Badminton Europe introduces two new awards to promote women in the sport of badminton: the Women in Badminton Person of the Year Award and the Women in Badminton Project of the Year Award.

The objective of the awards is to give international recognition to any person, whether individual or body corporate, who has contributed significantly, outstandingly and positively to the promotion, development and advancement of women in badminton and/or any badminton–related activities in Europe. These awards are offered by the Badminton Europe Council in cooperation with BEC’s Women in Badminton committee.

To make the selection amongst as many strong applicants as possible, each Member Association is invited to nominate one person and one project they think deserve recognition; they have until 15 March 2012 to send their nomination forms.

The first awards ceremony were the laureates will be presented their prize will be on 20 April 2012, in Karlskrona, Sweden, during Badminton Europe’s 2012 ADM.
