The 2016 Hatzor International concluded today in Kibbutz Hatzor, and as the singles seeds faltered Ariel Shainski proved to be the home hero claiming two titles.

Shainski (pictured above) opened up finals day taking the mixed doubles alongside his Belarussian partner Krestina Silich. The Israel/Belarus pair came through in three games against Russian top seeds Vasilkin and Virvich getting the home nation off to the perfect start.

Shainski then added the men’s doubles title to the mixed, rounding off a perfect tournament for the organisers getting two victories on home soil.

Pawal Pradzinski (POL), Kristina Virvich (RUS) and Irina Shorokhova (RUS) had the opportunity to emulate Shainski as double winners but all three came up short. Pradzinski lost both his finals, one being the men’s doubles against Shainski and Yonathan Levit. The Pole also came up short in the men’s singles losing out to Lucas Levl (CZE) in three games.

Kristin Virvich (pictured above) did manage to win the women’s doubles, a very truncated competition, after losing the opening mixed. Virvich partnered Irina Shorokhova to the title beating top seeds Kugal and Molodezki in two games.

In the women’s singles and after a disappointing tournament from top seed Zuzana Pavelkova (CZE), Ana Marija Setina (SLO) who beat Pavelkova in the semi final, took top honours. Setina denied Shorokhova the double to land the future series rated tournament.
