Denmark's Viktor Axelsen clinched his place in the semi-finals of the Yonex Sunrise India Open Superseries (300.000 Dollars) when he beat Nan Wei in straight games 21-17, 21-12 (37 minutes).

Axelsen will face Son Wan Ho of Korea in the last four on Saturday with Kento Momota up against Xue Song of China. The latter sent crashing out Jan Ø. Jørgensen and Marc Zwiebler.

The number 5 seed Axelsen, bidding for a maiden Superseries title in New Delhi, was only beaten by Son Wan Ho in their first two meetings in 2014. Then Axelsen clinched victories both at the recent Yonex All-England and at the Yonex Denmark Open in his hometown of Odense.

Vittinghus sent packing by Momoto

World number 18 Hans-Kristian Vittinghus was sent crashing out of quarterfinals by Japanese superstar Kento Momoto, the number two seed.

“The score line reflects the match pretty well. I made a lot of mistakes and Momota almost didn't make any. Impossible to win at this level when there is no quality in the shots at the net. My lifts were too short and I was not able to set up anything the way I wanted to. Disappointing end to a good week, but what can I say, today I was just outplayed by a much better player”, said Vittinghus via Facebook.

“I'll move on from this loss and bad performance tomorrow and begin to look forward to Malaysia Open next week. New battles to be fought and I'll be ready for it.”

Pedersen/Juhl to meet strong Japanese duo

Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl dominated their quarterfinal match against Chinese duo of Chen/Jia. The Danes will face Naoko Fukuman/Kurumi Yonao of Japan in the semifinal.

“We had a good feeling on court today as we tried to change the rhythm during the match, so it became difficult for them to find the right solution and tactic to beat us. We think that succeed really well today.  Tomorrow we will be ready for a good fight as always when we are playing Fukuman and Yonao”, wrote the duo on their Facebook profile.
