The 2016 European U15 Championships will take place in Kazan, Russia from 19-21 February in the Kazan Gymnastics Center. The deadline of the entries was yesterday and to date, a total number of 162 players will take part in this championship.

78 boys and 84 girls from 34 Member Associations are setting their goals for the 2016 European U15 Championships titles from five categories. They will be competing in the same venue as the 2016 European Men´s & Women´s Team Championships (#EMWTC16).

´The main idea of having the 2016 European U15 Championships together with the European Men´s & Women´s Team Championships is to increase the possibility for the young players to watch elite level badminton, soak in the atmosphere and to play alongside their idols. By doing this, they will get the exposure of seeing the senior players compete and hopefully this will motivate them to follow their path in their future badminton careers. We combined these two championships in Basel two years ago and the feedback was already then very positive. Seeing the size of this year’s entry only confirms that introducing this event was a right decision. We are extremely happy to see that 34 of our Member Associations will be represented in Kazan – amongst these a few countries which are not competing at our events often,´ explained Peter Tarcala, Chairman of the BEC Major Events Commission.

The seeding will be announced on 25 January and the draw will be conducted the next day. The finalized draw will be published on the BEC official platforms.

Entries of the five categories:

Men´s Singles: 51 players
Women´s Singles: 58 players
Men´s Doubles: 20 pairs
Women´s Doubles: 23 pairs
Mixed Doubles: 42 pairs
