Uludag University wins gold medal

Maiden title for Uludag University (Turkey) as they won the team competition of the 10th European Universities Championships in Warsaw, Poland. In today's final, the team - lead by women's singles star and 2012 Olympian Neslihan Yigit - beat University of Bordeaux of France 3-1.

But it was the French side who took the lead by winning the opening match in three games. Delphine Delrue and Thomas Vallez beat their Turkish opponents Yusuf Ramazan Bay and Özge Bayrak, 21-15, 14-21, 21-14. 

Neslihan Yigit and Emre Vural then became the heroes of their team, helping to take the next three important matches to crown Uludag University as new European University champion. Congratulations to Uludag University for taking the the gold medal and to University of Bordeaux for winning silver.

The bronze medals go to Opole University of Poland and Nizhny Novgorod State University of Russia. Congratulations!
