In close cooperation with the Belgian Badminton Federation Badminton Europe organized a Player Pathway Course on the 11th, 12th and 13th of June 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium. Seven participants from six Member Associations took part. The course was designed for Presidents, general secretaries and persons who are involved in the management of high performance in sports organizations.

On Thursday morning, Chris Solly and Jose Gigante of the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) started the first session with an introduction of the WAoS. The focus of the first session was on the environment a federation is operating in, the importance of a strategic analysis and visions in the high performance . In the following group work session, the participants had to make a strategic analysis and create their own visions.

In the second session, the participants where shown how the so called "end point planning" is working and they were given tipps on how to find out how many talents they need in order to succeed. In the group working session, the participants were working on two items: talent identification and talent recruitment. In the evening, the participants had to do 1,5 hours of home work.

The second day of the course started with feedback on the home work followed by a session regarding talent development. After a short coffee break, a case study from one of the participants was shown and discussed. Immediately after the case study, Chris presented the second session of the day which was about stakeholder mapping and partner integration followed by group work. The day ended with the third session which was about planning for talent presentation.

The main topics of the third and last day were: managing the support services a federation is dealing with and how to make the Player Pathway plan. As the final task of the course, the participants had to present their own draft of a Player Pathway plan.

The participants have now three months to hand in their Player Pathway plan. WAoS will give feedback when they received the plan and have read it where after the plan will be finalized.
