The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2015 (PBWC 2015) entry is now open! The Para-Badminton World Championships is hosted bi-annually in odd numbered years with participants from all the five Continental Confederations. The next PBWC 2015 will take place in Stoke Mandeville in England from 8-13 September 2015.
This Championships is an individual competition where players from Member Associations or organizations recognized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) are invited to participate. The best para-badminton players around the world gather for this Championships and battle for the World Champion titles. Previous European hosts for this Championships were the Netherlands (1998), Germany (2000 & 2013), Spain (2001) and Wales (2003).The categories played are Men & Women´s Singles, Men & Women´s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Players will be classified into their respective Sport
Classes to ensure a fair competition.
The Sport Classes competed for each category are as below:
• Wheel Chair 1 (WH1)
• Wheel Chair 2 (WH2)
• Standing Lower (SL3)
• Standing Lower (SL4)
• Standing Upper (SU5)
• Short Stature (SS6)
The last edition of the Para-Badminton World Championships took place in Dortmund, Germany in 2013. 19 European countries took part in Dortmund and bagged a total of 36 medals. While para-badminton players are busy preparing themselves for the World Championships, there are two more tournaments in the 2015 Para-Badminton Calendar before the World Championships, which will take place in June and August. The Carlton Irish Para-Badminton International will be held in Dublin from the 24-28 June followed by the 2nd Indonesia Para-Badminton International in Solo from 4-9 August.
