Today, the French Badminton Federation (FFBaD) announced La Roche-sur-Yon as the host city of the 2016 European Badminton Championships. This announcement was the culmination of an internal process in France, to ensure that the city that is elected is capable of hosting the European Championships.

The 2016 European Championships will take place from 27 April to 1 May 2016 in La Roche-sur-Yon. The arena hosting the competition is the Vendespace (4200 seats).  La Roche-sur-Yon is a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France. It is the capital of the department and has 55.000 inhabitants.

"France is a reliable, professional and very experienced organizer of international top badminton events. I am convinced that the French Badminton Federation (FFBaD) will provide perfect conditions for our top players. The Vendespace in La Roche-sur-Yon will be the perfect venue to host the 2016 European Championships. The 2016 European Championships, who is Badminton Europe’s biggest and most prestigious event, will take place for the 25th time. I cannot think of any finer destination to celebrate this anniversary than La Roche-sur-Yon in western France, said Badminton Europe President, Gregory Verpoorten.
