Positive first impressions in Poznán

The BWF/BEC Tutor Level 1 Course has just kicked off in Poznán, Poland.

It’s been a long time since Badminton Europe introduced the BWF coach education by organising a pilot Level 1 Tutor Course in Antwerp, Belgium, in June 2012. Ten years later and after many of such courses having been successfully organised, eight participants are meeting in Poznán, west-central Poland, to take part in the BWF/BEC Tutor Level 1 Course.

From 24 to 26 June 2022, eight participants representing six different countries — Ireland, Austria, Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, and Ukraine — will be learning all about planning, preparing, delivering, and assessing at a BWF Coach Education Level 1.

- Despite it not being a very large group, all participants have shown from the very beginning an impressively proactive attitude, with interest and eagerness to learn. Loads of ideas are already being shared among participants and tutors, Badminton Europe Development & High Performance Officer Mari Carmen Casermeiro stated.

The highly motivated group is making the course an enjoyable experience, having already got to know each other better through the icebreaker activities of the first day. Tutor Martijn van Dooremalen and shadow Tutor, Wojciech Szkudlarczyk, are in charge of delivering the course in Pozán. After a small introduction to the content of the two-and-a-half-day course, our participants have delivered on court the first tasks.

- I’m positively impressed by the fact that there are more female candidates than male ones. We need to get more female tutors on board, and this shows that we are on the right track. I’m very satisfied with the initial level of the course. All the participants are showing a background with a high level so far, Tutor Martijn van Dooremalen said.
