The final day of the Fuzhou China Open will be without European participation, as the last two, Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke and Anders Antonsen lost in Saturday’s semifinals.

Unseeded Gemke had everything to win against the world’s best player, Japan’s Kento Momota. Gemke took an early lead in the first game, but in the end he threw away a six points lead, losing the opening game 19-21.

If it was the disappointment from not winning the first, or if the Japanese was just too strong, that shall be unsaid, but in the second there was just too much difference between the level of the two players and Momota won the match after a comfortable 21-8 win in the second game.

Anders Antonsen was, in the last match of the day, up against Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei - the current number two in the world.

On paper it was considered an even and close match before the start of it, but quickly Chou took a comfortable lead and won the first game 21-10.

The second game was not much different, and Antonsen never managed to challenge his opponent in today’s match. 21-12 in favour of Chou in the second game, and thereby the final will be a clash between the two highest ranked players in the world.

Predictions for the final
The host nation, China, is sure of winning the mixed doubles title, as yet again an international final will be a match between the two best pairs in the world - top seeded Zheng Si Wei / Huang Ya Qiong and Wang Yi Lyu / Huang Dong Ping. China has the chance of winning two titles on home soil in Fuzhou as Chen Yu Fei has reached the women’s singles final where she will be up against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara.

Japan has a chance of four titles in Fuzhou as they are also represented in the last two finals. In men’s doubles Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda will be against world leaders Kevin Sukamuljo and Marcus Gideon from Indonesia, while Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota will play Korea’s Lee So Hee and Shin Seung Chan in the women’s doubles final.
