Gergley Krausz and Eetu Heino have both secured their spots in the knockout rounds of the European Games in Minsk.

Krausz, of Hungary, has secured his spot despite losing a match today against Emre Lale of Turkey in a three-game thriller.

Heino, on the other hand, has beaten two opponents out of three so far, the second being Miha Ivanic today after getting the better of Rosario Maddaloni from Italy yesterday.

Ambition achieved

Krausz has revealed that he has done what he has come to Minsk to do, despite winning just one match and advancing to the knockout rounds.

The Men’s Singles player is hungry for more as he looks to secure the top spot in the group tomorrow.

- I have come here to get to the knockout stage, so I am for sure very happy. But I feel a bit disappointed because of today’s match,

- I had in my hands and I lost it from a winning position, Krausz said.

- I am still very happy and I am just waiting for the match tomorrow to see if I will be first or second in the group.

Heino is feeling good

The Finnish Men’s Singles player has revealed that he is feeling very positive at the moment with his results and his game on court.

Heino is in close competition with Kalle Koljonen, also from Finland, to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Reaching the knockout stage of the European Games will be a big boost for Heino, though.

- I am feeling stronger than ever before, I have got so many things working in my game and I am happy that I am able to play which is one of the main things, Heino said.

- I don’t come to tournaments to lose, I have played for so many years and if I play, I always try to win, he added.

Heino cannot afford to lose any enjoyment on court, according to the Finnish man, speaking after his match today.

- I just want to play badminton. I know it won’t last for many more years so I just want to enjoy every single moment that I have on court, he said.
