Mark Lamsfuss spoke to Badminton Europe about the chances for Germany at the upcoming European Mixed Team Championships in Copenhagen.

In 2013, Germany was able to win the European Mixed Team Championships and to beat Denmark for the first time in history. Since then, the German team could not repeat this success.

The German Doubles player, Mark Lamsfuss, is confident that his country is able to succeed in this year’s European Mixed Team Championships that are coming up from 13-17 February.

- Our team has good chances to reach the semi-finals. Of course, it will be very tough to play against England and Russia, but we have already shown that we can win against other nations, he said.

- Every category will be a battle, but if all of us play at their best level, I am confident that we are able to reach the semi-finals.

Lamsfuss is playing together with his partners, Isabel Herttrich and Marvin Emil Seidel. In Mixed Doubles, the 24-year-old is currently ranked within the Top 20 in the world. In Men’s Doubles, he is positioned within the Top 30.

For the upcoming European Mixed Team Championships, the German team has a strong line-up with world-class players, such as Isabel Herttrich, Linda Efler and Marvin Emil Seidel.

National Champions in Copenhagen

Last weekend, Marvin Emil Seidel and Linda Efler, who are also playing together in Mixed Doubles, were able to win two national Championships titles. Yvonne Li and Max Weisskirchen were dominating the Singles categories in Germany.

- It is difficult to say who will be the key players in our team. We have strong players in every category and every match is important. A good team spirit will be the most important, Lamsfuss said.

- The older German generation has already shown what you can achieve with a good team and fighting spirit, he added.

Looking forward to an amazing atmosphere

As one of the best eight teams from Europe, Germany will be fighting for the title as Mixed Team Champion in Copenhagen.

- We are looking forward to the event and are very motivated. We want to perform well and show our best badminton. Hopefully, a lot of spectators will be attending the event to create an amazing atmosphere, Lamsfuss said.
