Bartlomiej Mroz is one of the top para-badminton players in Europe. The Pole won the Denmark Para-Badminton International, which was organised for the first time.

21-9 and 21-4 was the result for the Polish player, Bartlomiej Mroz, in the final of the Denmark Para-Badminton International. The number one seed won clearly against his Dutch opponent, Joshua Donker, in the sports class of SU5.

Thereby, Mroz is one of the first winners of the para-tournament that is newly part of the Denmark Open family.

The 24-year-old is happy about his achievement in Odense:

- It was a good performance from me, before the European Championships get underway next week. I am fighting for the best result there, as I am still waiting for a gold medal in Singles.

Para-badminton is now part of the Paralympics

With para-badminton being part of the Paralympics for the first time in 2020, the Denmark Para-Badminton International will be even more attractive next year.

- We are looking forward to hosting this event next year again, as it will be part of the qualification for the Paralympics 2020 in Tokyo, said Klavs Andreassen, Vice-Chair of the BEC Para-Badminton Commission.

Andreassen is happy about the development of para-badminton in Europe:

- Since para-badminton became part of the Paralympics, a lot of European countries are developing in para-badminton. A lot of new players, for instance from the Faroe Islands, Portugal and Ukraine, were participating in this year’s Para-Badminton Denmark International.

- It is a good sign that para-badminton is now part of the Paralympic Program. It helps to promote the sport and to get funds from the governments.
