The main draw of the Super 300 tournament Swiss Open has started today. After some already beautiful matches in the qualification rounds, most of the first round matches were played today. First rounds are not always easy, especially to get used to the tournament circumstances. Mariya Mitsova (Bulgaria) and Mark Lamsfuss (Germany) got through it.

Mitsova played her first match against local player Ronja Stern. She won in two solid games, but her match was not as easy as it seemed. Also Mitsova had to adjust to the environment.

‘My match today wasn’t easy as it was my first one for this tournament. I was not so stable but I had a good game tactic from my coach so I managed to overplay Ronja.’ Mitsova stated to Badminton Europe.

In the second round tomorrow she will face well known Beatriz Corrales from Spain.
‘I’m preparing as well as I can, and hope to give my best and play some good badminton on court’ she commented about her coming match.

Focus on final

German doubles player Mark Lamsfuss had an easier start. Together with Marvin Emil Seidel, he faced European U17 men’s doubles champion Kenji Lovang (France) who is partnered up with William Villeger (France).

‘Today we played really well but I was expecting more resistance of our opponents. They didn’t try to find a solution’ Lamsfuss commented after his match.

Lamsfuss already played his first round in mixed doubles with Isabel Herttrich yesterday. They are first seeded in the tournament and Lamsfuss is planning to act upon it.
‘My expectation for this tournament is to reach the finals! I know it will be tough but I really want to play on Sunday in front of the Swiss crowd!
