Sunday was a great day for Spanish badminton with Pablo Abian taking the men’s singles title at the 2015 Spanish International and having secured a runner-up spot in the women's singles by Beatriz Corrales. These results are supposed to be a big boost of confidence for the two Spaniards on their way to the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio.

Spanish number one Pablo Abián beat Denmark’s Rasmus Fladberg 21-16 13-21 21-10 in Sunday's finals. A match which lasted more than an hour. After a good first game, where Abian played at a very high level, Fladberg changed his style of play and found his way back into the match. But in the rubber-game, it was the Spanish player who dominated. Abian won his first ever Spanish International title.

His countrywoman Beatriz Corrales was not able to secure her second Spanish Open title. The Spanish number two lost to the American shuttler Iris Wang 13-21, 21-14, 21-15. After a strong beginning from the European, it was Wang who got totally in control of the game.

Polish duo of Adam Cwalina/Przemylaw Wacha won the men doubles title and the Bulgarians Stefani Stoeva/Gabriela Stoeva could defend their title from 2014 in the women’s doubles category. The surprise of the tournament was the victory of German duo Seidel/Efler in the mixed doubles.
