2015 Women in Badminton Award Winner is Carolina Marin (Spain)

Carolina, our 2015 Women in Badminton Award winner is an international Women´s Singles player and has won numerous prestigious international tournaments. She has won 18 individual titles to date and will be eyeing to defend her title at the 2016 European Championships in Vendee, France. Apart from that, her main focus this year is the 2016 Summer Olympics which will be held in Rio de Janeiro where she aims to be the first European to win the Women Singles at the Olympics.

There were many ´firsts´ for Carolina since she started competitive badminton. She became the first Spaniard to win a World Championships title and the third European female player to achieve the gold medal after Lene Køppen (1977) and Camilla Marin (1999) after she defeated Li Xuerui from China back in August 2014. She won her first Superseries Premier title at the 2015 All England and she is the first European female player to defend her World Championships title which was held in Ballerup, Denmark in August 2015.
